Timeshare Unlocked is a free, independent resource for people who feel stuck with a timeshare they no longer want. Our goal is simple: help you understand your real options for getting out — without overpaying a scam "exit company."

Why this site exists

Every year, thousands of timeshare owners go looking for a way out and run straight into high-pressure sales pitches, big upfront fees, and promises that no one can honestly keep. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has repeatedly warned about timeshare exit and resale scams. We built Timeshare Unlocked to lay out the legitimate, often free or low-cost paths first — the rescission window, developer deed-back and take-back programs, resale and transfer, and when hiring a licensed attorney actually makes sense.

What we are — and what we are not

We are an independent consumer-education site. We are not a law firm, a timeshare exit or cancellation company, or a resort or developer, and we do not sell any exit service. Nothing here is legal, financial, or tax advice, and reading this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. Timeshare laws, rescission periods, and resort programs vary by state and by contract, so we always encourage you to confirm the details in your own paperwork and with a qualified professional.

How we write

Articles are written in plain English and reviewed for accuracy and balance. We do not accept payment to recommend any exit company, law firm, or developer, and any company or resort names we mention are used only to help you find the information you searched for. When we describe a company or program, we tell you how to verify its current standing yourself — through the Better Business Bureau, your state attorney general, the state bar (for attorneys), and the FTC at consumer.ftc.gov.
